Porcelain, glue, cement and gold
Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi – the golden attachment, this craftsmanship embraces imperfections, nurturing and valuing the old and worn.
Jaffa D neighbourhood is a microcosm of Israeli society. By using the metaphor of the golden attachment I collected broken vessels from the neighbourhood’s residents, but instead of repairing them I wrapped a building’s columns in a gradually growing, shimmering pattern, emerging from the neighbourhood’s dynamics, creating a new wholeness.
