Pencil on paper, found coins, containers, a table,  2019

After my father passed away I was surprised to find among his few possessions his old coin collection: an assortment of containers filled with worthless coins. empty tins and jars of tahini, salt, honey, etc. all filled with old shekels and other currencies that have been out of use years ago.
I decided to create an archival documentation of his collection, using the childish method of rubbing coins. In a way it was a perfect portrait of my father: a bookkeeper with eternal hopes even when it was clear there was no future.

Fifteen containers of coins, each numbered. The coin rubbings are numbers too, and could be linked with the specific box they belong to; some boxes required a few full sheets while others required only a few lines on a single sheet of paper.
